Naugatuck 38, Ansonia 20
Senior quarterback Erich Broadrick ran for two touchdowns and passed for three to lead the Naugatuck football team to a 38-20 Naugatuck Valley League interdivision victory over host Ansonia Thursday before an estimated 4,000 at Jarvis Stadium.
The win clinched the NVL title and secured a Class L state playoff berth for the Greyhounds (9-1). Naugatuck now trails in the annual Thanksgiving Day series 66-35-11. It was the first win for the Greyhounds over the Chargers since 2001, which marked the last time Naugatuck captured the NVL title.
Broadrick scored on touchdown runs of 1 and 6 yards, and completed 12 of 19 passes for 215 yards. Broadrick connected twice with senior Tyler Conklin on touchdown passes and once with senior Irman Farimani.
Naugatuck led 17-14 at halftime after a 31-yard field goal from Mick Pernell.
Arkeel Newsome scored on a 9-yard run, Montrell Dobbs on a 2-yard run, and Andrew Matos caught a 6-yard touchdown pass from Elliott Chudwick for Ansonia (9-1), which is ranked sixth in the Register Top 10 Poll. Dobbs carried 26 times for 114 yards.
Ansonia also qualified for the playoffs. The Chargers will be the third seed in Class S.

Darien players suspended
Read Dave Ruden's story
here.
No names mentioned, yet, but several members of the Darien football team were suspended and will not play Thursday against New Canaan after "a vandalism incident at New Canaan High School overnight that caused significant damage to the school was reportedly the work of five Darien football players who reportedly have been suspended from the team on the eve of its key football game with the Rams", according to the story.
Darien (10-0) recently won the FCIAC title. New Canaan (8-1) needs to defeat the Blue Wave in order to qualify in Class L. Darien has already secured a berth in that class.
Still no names, but the story was updated to include that "two starters, one reserve and two non-players were involved"

Lyman Hall players suspended
At least three Lyman Hall football players have been suspended and will not play Thursday against Sheehan in the team's final regular season game. One is senior quarterback John DeSandre, according to sources.
Lyman Hall (7-2) is battling for a Class M state playoff berth. The Trojans will clinch a spot with a victory over their rivals, but their postseason hopes could be in jeopardy with a loss.
The players were suspended after breaking team rules this past weekend which, according to sources, was a violating of the school’s substance abuse policy. The players were allegedly caught drinking.
"Some football players did break a school policy and they're being appropriately disciplined," Lyman Hall athletic director Amy Labas said. "I'm not able to say for how long (the suspension will be) or who they are."
