Notre Dame-West Haven 42, Wilbur Cross 7

No. 10 Notre Dame (5-1) scored 40 or more points for the fifth time in six games.
But it was the Green Knights' defense that set the tone in a 42-7 Southern Connecticut Conference Division I East victory over visiting Wilbur Cross (3-3).

Junior linebacker Tim Lyons returned an interception 32 yards for a touchdown on the game's second play from scrimmage for Notre Dame. Lyons also scored on a 3-yard run in the fourth quarter.

Senior running back Justin Willis carried 20 times for 93 yards and two touchdown for the Green Knights.

Junior quarterback Sean Goldrich completed 7 of 9 passes for 208 yards and a touchdown. Senior receiver Conor Keniry caught five passes for 187 yards and a score for ND.

Senior receiver Maurice Morrison caught four passes for 131 yards and a touchdown for the Governors.

The Guilford at Amity football game, originally scheduled for Friday at 7 p.m. at Woodbridge, has been postponed due to an outbreak of the H1N1 Flu at Guilford High School.

The game will now be played on Nov. 19 at 6 p.m.
