More Saturday roundup

North Branford 51, Old Saybrook/Westbrook 32: Joe Perez ran for 138 yards and passed for 156 yards for the Thunderbirds in this Pequot Conference Sassacus Division win at North Branford.
John Hart had 11 tackles and Cameron Smith intercepted three passes for North Branford (3-0).

Valley Regional/Old Lyme 6, Cromwell 0: Jimmy Fairfield-Sonn had 158 yards rushing on 25 carries and passed for 49 yards for the Warriors.
John Finkelday had 20 carries for 115 yards for Valley Regional, which defeated Cromwell for the first time.

Bunnell 61, New Milford 28: Bryan Castelot completed 17 of 26 passes for 440 yards and Steve Buczek rushed 12 times for 179 yards for the Bulldogs in this SWC win.

West Haven 40, Hamden 0: Kevin Philips and Ervin Philips each scored two rushing touchdowns to lead the host Westies to this SCC Division I victory.Tremayne Barnes scored on a 16-yard fumble recovery and Germanicus Gerard added a 1-yard touchdown run for West Haven (1-0).

Hand 44, Amity 13: Kevin Frey scored touchdown runs of 5, 6 and 7 yards to lead the host Tigers to this SCC Division I victory at Madison.Zach Miller threw two touchdown passes and ran for another for Hand (3-0). Kyle Kalanta had a 45-yard touchdown run and Codey Ellison caught a 37-yard touchdown reception from Tyler Vallie for the Spartans (1-2).

Hyde 14, Morgan 7: James Baker-Howard scored on a 3-yard run and passed for 100 yards to lead Hyde in this Pequot Conference Sassacus Division victory over visiting Morgan at Bowen Field.
Patrick Davidson rushed 20 times for 58 yards, including a 4-yard touchdown run for the Howling Wolves (3-0), who added a safety in third quarter.
Gary Ormond carried six times for 47 yards and Hashiem Roberson added 42 yards on nine carries for Hyde. Nainy Bah caught a 27-yard touchdown pass from Erich Berzinskas for the Huskies (1-2).

Hillhouse 26, Foran 15: Harold Cooper rushed 14 times for 190 yards and scored twice for the Academics in this Southern Connecticut Conference Division II contest at Bowen Field.
Taurese Washington added a 3-yard touchdown run for Hillhouse (2-1). Casey Theriault had two touchdowns for the Lions (1-2).

Naugatuck 41, Derby O’Brien Tech 18: Ray Kreiger had three touchdown passes, Jacob Tomczak had two receiving touchdowns and Zach Salazar had the other TD receiving for Derby in the Naugatuck Valley League home loss.
Naugatuck improved to 3-0 while Derby dropped to 0-3.

Maloney 36, RHAM 7: Karim St. Luce rushed 13 times for 113 yards and a touchdown and caught five balls for 129 yards and two more touchdowns for Maloney in a Central Connecticut Conference Division IV win at Hebron.
Quarterback Ryan Belote completed 11 of 23 passes for 294 yards and five touchdowns for the Spartans (2-1). Ethan Sutherland returned a kickoff 84 yards for the only touchdown for RHAM (2-1).

Oxford 34, Stratford 12: Alex Miller completed 7 of 10 passes for 102 yards and two touchdowns and also scored on a 55-yard interception return and on a 68-yard fumble return to lead the host Wolverines to this South-West Conference victory.
Nick Donofrio rushed 20 times for 138 yards and one touchdown and also caught a touchdown pass from Miller for Oxford (3-0). Justin Lasto also had a touchdown reception for the winners.

Hopkins 42, Hackley 10: Bryan Turkel rushed 18 times for 148 yards and four touchdowns to lead the visiting Hilltoppers to this prep school win at Tarrytown, N.Y.
Jordan Sebastian ran for one touchdown and caught another and quarterback Jack Pantalena was 4 of 7 for 124 yards for Hopkins (2-1).

Miller leads Oxford

Xavier 9, Cheshire 6

Junior running back Mike Mastrioanni rushed 38 times for 240 yards and a touchdown to lead the top-ranked Falcons to this SCC interdivision win before 3,500 at the Maclary Complex in Cheshire.

Mastrioanni scored on a 6-yard run in the fourth quarter for Xavier (3-0).

No. 5 Cheshire (2-1) responded with a 50-yard touchdown pass from Michael Ecke to Sebastian Little on the first play of the next series.

Xavier went up by three points when Cheshire snapped the ball out of bounds on a punt.

Cheshire-Xavier tickets on sale

Tickets for No. 5 Cheshire’s contest with top-ranked, and visiting, Xavier on Friday are available for purchase at the Cheshire High athletic office.

Prices are $5 for adults and $3 for students and senior citizens.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at the Maclary Complex.

Here are five games worth checking out in Week 3.

1. Windsor (2-0) at Southington (2-0), Friday, 7 p.m.: Southington rallied from a 14-point deficit to defeat Glastonbury last week. Windsor shutout New Britain.

2. Holy Cross (2-0) at Ansonia (2-0), Friday, 7 p.m.: Holy Cross won up in Waterbury last year. Crusaders on the road this time around.

3. Xavier (2-0) at Cheshire (2-0), Friday, 7 p.m.: Battle of Register Top 10 teams.

4. St. Joseph (1-1) at Darien (2-0), Saturday, 1:30 p.m.: St. Joe's can't afford another loss this early in the season.

5. Stratford (2-0) at Oxford (2-0), Saturday, 1 p.m.: Oxford looking for first-ever 3-0 start.
