Moore's return boosts Ansonia

Tyrell Moore last played football when he was a freshman at Ansonia. But as he entered his senior season, Moore, who chose to concentrate on basketball as a sophomore and junior, decided to give football another shot. He wanted to be a part of the Ansonia football experience again.

"It’s senior year," Moore said. "I decided that I wanted to be a part of this winning tradition. I just wanted to play Ansonia football."

Moore's return has certainly given the Chargers a boost. Moore caught four touchdown passes, made two interceptions and recovered a fumble on Friday in a 40-6 win over Woodland.

Ansonia (4-0) has won 31 straight games and have won the last two Class S and Naugatuck Valley League championships.

Moore has been valuable as a receiver, defensive back and as a punt and kick returner.

"He's a special player on offense, defense, special teams," Brockett said. "He adds an extra element to our game that we've been lacking a little bit. It's nice to see that ball in the air. He's a great kid. He's a tough kid that's excited about football. He's really enjoying it."
