Guilford tops Foran, Cross edges Amity

Travis Dillon carried 13 times for 87 and two touchdowns as Guilford defeated Foran 29-20 at Milford. The Indians won their first game of the season and handed coach Tom Unger his first varsity win. Unger took over the program in the off-season.

Guilford (1-2) took a 22-0 first half lead before Foran (2-1) railled. Foran quarterback Jake White threw touchdown passes to Taylor Hames, Nick Drenchen and Dan Geier in the second quarter as the Lions trailed just 22-20 at halftime.

Dillon's second touchdown upped Guilford's lead to 29-20 in the third quarter.

White completed 23 of 47 passes for 443 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions. White threw for 289 yards in the first half.

Wilbur Cross 35, Amity 28: James Ward scored on touchdown runs of 78, 73 and 5 yards and ran in two two-point conversions to lift Wilbur Cross.

Doural Scott scored on a 7-yard run and Maurice Morrison caught a 52-yard touchdown pass from Dontay Long for the Governors (3-0), who rushed for 238 yards and gained 278 yards passing on just eight completions.

Quarterback Billy Choiniere completed 19 of 37 passes for 465 yards and four touchdowns, including three to Jay Binkowski for Amity (1-2).
