Cheshire turf update
Cheshire is currently in the process of getting a new turf field at the Maclary Complex. School officials had hoped the field would be ready by October.
There have been some buzz, though, that the field won't be ready until Thanksgiving Day (when Cheshire hosts Southington) because the track installation requires that the track surface has to be "cured." It would mean several weeks before anyone could walk on it.
Cheshire AD Steve Trifone said that the turf delay has not been confirmed yet. However, just in case it happens, they have already made plans to play the Oct. 14 home game at Sheehan High.
The Oct. 14 game against Wilbur Cross was supposed to be the first game on the new field.
Cheshire hosts Hand on Oct. 6, but that game will be played at Falcon Field in Meriden.
The Rams open the season tonight against Hamden in a game that will be played at East Haven. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
We'll keep you updated.
