Ansonia Honored by Max Preps
Ansonia will be presented with an 18-inch bronze national ranking trophy on a wood block base by the Army National Guard, presenting partner of the MaxPreps Tour of Champions, for finishing 38th in their final national high school football rankings. The presentation will be made at a community event banquet.
The ceremony will take place on Monday Jan. 21 at 6 p.m. at the Holy Rosary Church on Father Salemi Drive.
Ansonia completed its second straight unbeaten season at 13-0 and now has won 27 consecutive games dating back to the 2005 campaign. The Chargers capped the season with a 35-0 rout of New London on Dec. 1 to capture the state Class 5 championship. It was the school's 16th state title and four times the school was ranked No. 1 in the state - both state records.
Ansonia finished ranked 38th nationally according to California-based MaxPreps, a national high school sports media company. MaxPreps is honoring 30 high schools with its Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard.
